C.O.T. Series Qualify and Race Format

******************UPDATED  11/18/08****************

* indicates new changes

General:   There will be no restarting the race (meaning no returning to lobby and starting over) after lap 5 for 25 lap races & lap 10 for 50 lap races. This will be the point of no return. The only accept ion will be if the entire room lags out or if the entire room agrees they would like to restart. There have been instances of a couple people lagging out and showing up late.

There will be No cautions during the last 5 laps due to the fact that there are not enough laps left to finish under green flag conditions.

In the event that someone has qualified and cannot connect to their designated room, DMR will award points equal to the position that person qualified. This will only happen after qualifing and will only be awarded to those who have qualified and can not connect to their room.

Points :  The winner of Room 1 will recive 200 points. Each position will drop in 5 point incraments. 2nd gets 195 and so on.   If you start in Room 2 the most points you could earn would be 9th place which is 165 points. Plus bonus points of course.

Qualifying:     DMR will have rooms available for qualifying. Thus the reason you need DMR members on your friends list.

There will be a 5-10 lap qualifying session (depending on the track) before each race.  Collisons will be off, damage on Limited, tires and fuel will be Simulation.

Whom ever has the fastest qualifying time will recieve a 10 point bonus.  After qualifiying we will figure out the top 8 qualifyers and they will be in Room 1, the second 8 in Room 2 and so on.

The person that sets fast time during the race in each room will recieve a 10 point bonus.  If you miss qualifying but make it in time to race you will be put at the back of the field.

You will recive an invite from a DMR official to the room you qualified in.  Once you get in that room you will be told what position you will be starting in.

Race Starts and Restarts:   There will be a Pace lap before starting each race.  When we enter the race we will all leave the start/finish line slowly.  Everyone will cruz around the first lap carefully getting into there spots.  We will be using the double file grid.

It is very important not to touch anybody because damage will be set to Limited and collisions will be on Default.  Pace lap speed will be between 40-80mph.  The pole sitter (fastest qualifier) from each room will act as the pace car.  After coming out of the last corner towards the start finish line the Pole sitter will start the race.   He will simply say green, green, green and we are officially racin.

Restarts will have lead lap cars single file on the outside line and lap down cars will be single file on the inside line.  If there are no lap down cars restarts will be single file.   In the event that there is a crash on the first lap their will be a complete restart.   We will line up exactly how we did for the pace lap.  If the second attempt of the start fails there will be a single file start.

Cautions:  In the event of a caution flag the people involved are to yell Caution or Yellow, the field is frozen at that point. You will not be allowed to gain or lose any position, and the leader is to slow down to pace lap speed and let the field catch up.

You are to stay single file with a small gap (20-50 meters) to the car in front of you. There is absolutely no benifit being so close that you could run into the guy in front of you under caution. This will only hurt your car as well as the guy in front of you.  Pits will be open only after every racer has caught up to the leader.  All racers involved in the accident will join at the back of the pack.  Once this happens you will be allowed to pit during the caution if you like. The race will not restart until everbody has pit (that wants to) and not until the entire field is ready coming towards the start/finish line

The race will continue only if every racer is caught up after pitting.  If someone is not ready the restart will be the following lap.  The leader of the race will restart the race coming to the start/finish line.  Again saying green, green, green.

Lucky Dog Award:   The racer that is not on the lead lap but closest to the lead lap will recieve the lucky dog award.  This means that in the event of a caution the racer closest to the lead lap will be able to pass the pace car/leader and catch up to the back of the pack to get 1 lap back.  There will be only 1 lucky dog award per caution.

If you are involved in the accident that brings out the caution you are NOT eligable to recieve the Lucky dog award.

Conduct:   **DMR Officials have control of the race. Any serious verbal aggresion towards or failure to cooperate with a DMR Official will result in penalty/DQ/Banned at DMR's discretion.**

If there are accusations of dirty driving or unsportsman like conduct, the replay will be reviewed and DMR may hand out penalties.   If points penalties dont work than a suspension will.

DMR will also have a Probation for those who are consistantly involved in a reviewable situation.  All this means is that if a person who is on probation and is involved in an accident, that person will be more likely to recieve a penalty because of their history.  The only way to get on probation is to be consistently at fault of a serious accident.

As long as you dont run over the guy in front of you or take the guy out beside we wont see any of this become an issue.  There will be more giving than taking on the racing line to keep it clean.  The guy with the least amount of damage at the end of the race will be the guy up front.

Connection:  If you have a problem connecting to a room turn off your XBox and unplug your router, modem, and anything else connected to your internet. Wait about a minute and plug everything back in.  Also be sure that your NAT setting is to OPEN.  This is found in the network settings menu in the dashboard.

In the event that lag becomes an issue in a room the DMR official has the right to restart the race as long as it does not conflict with any other rules listed.  We will avoid this if at all possible.  When it comes down to it, your connection is your problem.
